Geraldine, what a beautiful place you have here – could not ask for a better spot on earth !

Dear Geraldine, I thought it was lovely and real cosy. We brought our boat with us for our holiday and moored it  in the bay beside the cottage.  We went sailing in out boat every day - all around Innishnee and Roundstone and to onr of the islands, Inishlacken – there was a donkey there who ate our lunch ! We had a great time here. Will be back.  Lots of Love, Maria ( Aged 7 )  Parents  Bill & Helena, Co. Kerry.

Peace and Beauty – what more can one ask for  !!

The sea and the mountains, the lakes, trees, rocks and fields, the birds and the flowers, the people and the crack, the food and the Guinness  -  all put together spell IRELAND.

Our expectations for Cill Cottage were met in every way, location, comfort and hospitality – we could not ask for more. Something we did not expect to witness – in the field next door, a Connemara Pony just after giving birth to a foal. We watched each day over our 2 weeks as the foal got bigger and stronger and ran around all day – amazing to watch.

Thanks Geraldine for a wonderful experience – we will be back.

We arrived on a beautiful sunny but cool day and our first impression of Cill Cotatge was all we expected and more. The sunrise and sunset each day were glorious. We toured Roundstone, Clifden, Kylemore Abbey, Westport and Castlebar and everywhere in between – one day we even went to the Cliff of Moher. We love this part of Ireland !! The pony and foal everyday at the stone walls were delightful. All in all a great rest and a great vacation. We would recommend this area and the cottage to anyone. Thanks so much.

Geraldine, we came here to get away from it all !! We found a place so cosy, peaceful and beautiful. Our nights were spent eating well in front of a lovely peat fire with a DVD. Neither of us can remember when we watched “The Quiet man “ before ! We have taken a few of your business cards home to pass around as we know so many people who would love it here. Although we are sad to be leaving we are really looking forward to coming back in the not too distant future. Thanks so much.

EVEN BETTER THAN WE EXPECTED !!!

The most breathtakingly beautiful spot and a great location for day trips in the area. Coming “home “ to Cill Cottage  after a day sightseeing is the icing on the cake. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable we loved snuggling up in front of the peat fire with a bottle of wine in the evening. Thanks for making this possible.Warm regards and best wishes,

Cill Cottage has allowed us to spend a perfect week in Connemara. It was supposed to be a week for relaxing, but the weather was so good we managed to pack in walking, cycling, golf and a trip to the Maam Cross Pony sale. Even so better than all of these was waking up to the glorious sunrises reflected in the mirror-like sea, and in the evenings the cosy warmth of roaring fires in the snug cottage.

Connemara’s breath-taking beauty keeps drawing us back year after year. Thanks for your warm welcome and your advise Geraldine. We will be back soon. Wendy & Will Davis. Wales

Well we said we would return and we have !!!!!

We last visited Cill Cottage late Sept. 2002 and it was much of a dream then as it is now. Everything about this place is so enjoyable – from the fantastic views to the wonderful food at O’Dowds and off course our obligatory lobster we bought on out way here and cooked and enjoyed to the full – a real treat.Like all the other comments in this book we had a really relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thanks Geraldine for letting us have a sneak preview of life in Connemara. Best Wishes, Alice & Nick. UK

Has been great reading the thoughts and experiences of all those who have had the priviledge of staying here at Cill Cottage. Despite what everyone chooses to do we all seem to agree this is one gorgeous place to relax and unwind. We have enjoyed our 6 days here immensely – from visiting Roundstone Village, climbing the hill in the village and the beautiful drive up the coast to Clifden, the Sky Road, the fantastic beaches at Roundstone. The surroundings and weather have surpassed our expectations. Thanks Geraldine for opening your cottage and creating such a warm and welcoming home away from home. We hope to come back again another day. The fireplace and DVD player made for many a cosy evening. Lovely touches !

The right place to forget the meaning of the words stress and time. We have enjoyed every minute of out stay at Cill Cottage – took loads of walks around the island, roamed the little byroads leading to a lagoon or a white sandy beach or just getting lost in incredible places.

Thanks for everything and we will be back. Monique & Gerard. France

I could tell you about the stunning sunrise that wakes you up just so that you can take a picture of it, or about the reflection of the moon on the water, that wants to make you stay awake, or about the amazing number or stars on a clear night.

I could tell you that after a few days in these wonderful surroundings you wont even remember the meaning of stress anymore. But seeing as you are reading this, then you must be at the cottage and seeing this for yourselves. I hope you enjoy every minute of your stay as we certainly did. We have been here for 3 weeks Thanks Geraldine for all your hospitality and help. We will be back next year.

A magical place like this changes by the hour, we have seen many versions this week. Have a look at the “Impressions of Connemara “ DVD here, it may help to plan a few trips. If you listen you will be amazed by the quiet and stillness if it’s calm which it often is. One can be amazed by the big things like “The Twelve Bens” and the little things like small flowers growing around the rocks. We look forward to coming back. Eric & Dinah, UK

Sometimes in life you find a special place – somewhere there is peace and tranquillity – such a place is right here – The Isle of Innishnee. Snuggled between Roundstone and the mountains you can watch the changing patterns on the quiet bay and the mountain slopes from Cill Cottage. Take a walk around the island to see the old and new cottages and the lovely hand built stone walls that surround them. What a truelly beautiful week it has been – the island showing off it’s best with the sun beating down on it all week. Can recommend Roundstone House for great food and O’ Dowds. For anyone who plays Golf check out the Connemara Golf Club – a fantastic view. We have been blessed with good weather all week. We will come back. Thanks Geraldine for allowing us to stay at this beautiful place. Lorna & Don, Cornwall, UK.

A lovely place to get away for  it all – the quietness of Innishnee is wonderful. The cottage has being a lovely place to come back to in the evenings, with our resident hare and robins in the garden. A sea Otter even swam around the headland at one point. Curling up in front of the fire was the perfect way to finish the day and Saturday’s sunrise was a great way to start it.

Our third visit to Cill Cottage is ending and it is back to our own Church Cottage in the UK.We’ll be taking lots of memories with us to call on when the going in the classroom gets tough.Highlights this year have included live music in the streets of Roundstone, as part of the Summerfest, the buzz of Clifden on Connemara Pony Show Day and the heart stopping beauty of the areas beaches. We have not strayed too far from here – walking on the island every morning and as always along the headland and beaches of Gurteen and Dog’s Bay. On the day it rained we became aquainted with the birds that live in the stone walls around the cottage. Thanks Geraldine and we will see you soon again.

We have had a wonderful week with our baby son here in Island Cottage. A week of blue skies, multi-coloured sheep and black Guinness! We loved going to Roundstone for a pint in the local pubs and  loved the drive to Clifden. All this and much more has made it a week to remember forever! Hope to be back in the next year or two!

June 4 – 12 2005

In our week we have had some smashing trips around Connemara. Here are our favourite spots – there is a small road from here to Clifden – the Bog Road – absolutely worth seeing, it reminded us of Bavaria or even the French Highmoors, with slushing water, loads of rocks and very fluffy sheep. You will love this quiet place! Another place is Cong and around Ashford castle – found it by chance.

To all who play an instrument – we brought our accordain and guitar with us. The cottage is the most wonderful place to make your own music!

A gorgeous spotless newly built cottage with everything we ever needed to be comfortable. We had many fine meals at home and saved a bundle not eating out. We took lovely walks afterward around the sea inlet and came in to a roaring fire to warm up. The views are stunning and we will return!

"Island Cottage - A Piece of Heaven"
October  2003:

Our stay at Island Cottage was wonderful, what a lovely oasis near the picturesque village of Roundstone. Driving along the island was like taking a step back in time. The views from the cottage are not to be believed and the neighbouring Connemara Ponies make you feel very welcome. Geraldine, owner of both cottages couldn't have been nicer and was always available for a chat!
Everything had been thought of and we wanted for nothing during our stay. This is a perfect place for children, or those interested in fishing or hill-walking. We've stayed in other cottages, but they pale in comparison to the Island Cottage. We would recommend it without hesitation and have told many friends and family about it.
